Imogen Thea Humphris is an artist based in Groningen, the Netherlands concerned with civic participation in place-making. Originally training in architecture and specialising in international development and conflict, her work explores the complex interactions of ‘community’ in shifting urban environments. In particular, her work is concerned with themes of poverty, conflict, youth and social change.
Her particular interest in youth experiences and youth led social change led her into teaching Art and Design in a comprehensive secondary school in central London. She has worked with teenagers from 11-18 largely from challenging socioeconomic backgrounds, following a reciprocative development between teaching and art practice.
Currently Imogen is completing her PhD and The University of Groningen in post-industrial vacancy and citizen spatial appropriation.
